Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Chris Salis and I’m an SAP expert. I’ve been a SAP advisor for more than a decade now.
I still remember, back in the days, when I first heard of SAP. I was totally perplexed. I was like – what’s SAP? What is this stuff? How can I use it? Why do companies use it? I had no idea what was it. All I had was the curiosity and the knack to learn more. And that’s when I decided to dive into the SAP world. That’s when I started learning about SAP and got infatuated with its terminology. I was already part of the IT sector before getting into SAP. I started off as an IT procurement manager at Adecco Employment Services. The best work I’d say I did there was to manage the IT Procurement Program for various corporate operations and for approximately 700 branches. My first job in a SAP company was at Business Objects, which has now been acquired by SAP itself. There, I fulfilled the role of Senior Manager, Senior Director of Global Go-to-Market Process, and ultimately the Executive Director to the CEO. But my hunger was never fulfilled. My knack for doing more and more led me to Global Vice-President of Procurement Solutions at SAP. SAP has dominated my career for years now. With so much involvement in SAP, I find it really odd that when I started my career, my starting wasn’t SAP but rather other IT stuff. I’ve worked for both SAP consulting companies as well as SAP clients in the past. And, I still do. Working for them both gives me the benefit of having a dual perspective. I can see things from both sides. It has been quite a journey. I’ve been a consultant for various SAP products and helped many companies get off the ground with the SAP ecosystem. To the ones who want to enter into SAP, want to be an SAP expert, want to be a SAP consultant, try SAP, learn SAP, and just immerse into it. I being a veteran in SAP one day will retire and just walk into the sunset. Personally, I want more newbies to come up and take our place. With the advent of more technology such as artificial intelligence and SAP being more sustainable and carbon neutral, the future is bright for people who want to enter the SAP space. So, what are you waiting for? Get in there. Don’t think that SAP is hard. It is supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would have done it. Just get in there because it’s worth it.
